The North Clay Middle School eighth-grade girls' basketball team opened its season Monday with a 32-12 victory over Cloverdale.
For the Knights, Karlie Atkinson led the way with eight points while Lindsay Potter, Emily Pollard and Lorrie LaTourette each had four.
In addition, Brooke Berry, Libby Deckard, Megan Mason, Natasha Barrett and Grace Sutherland all had two points each.
The seventh-grade Knights powered past the Clovers as well, with a definitive 58-10 victory.
North Clay got a 23-point, 10-rebound effort from Mikayla Rowan and Abbey Timberman posted 14 points and nine boards. The Knights also got eight points and five rebounds from McKenzie Kumpf and a four-point, five-rebound game from Brittney Fagg. Whitney Halfhill scored five points with three rebounds and both Deaven McCrocklin and Shea Britton had two points.
The Knights (1-0) will face Chauncey Rose on the road Wednesday. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
