Highlight a special love for Valentine's

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

The Brazil Times hopes to celebrate Valentine's Day with the community this year.

Those interested in sending photographs of their loved ones are urged to do so. Send in a wedding photo, an engagement photo or any other type of photo. When you do send in the photograph, include names and dates for a special publication in a special Valentine's Day issue, which will appear in The Times Saturday, Feb. 13.

"We've tried different things for Valentine's Day to get the readers involved," Times' General Manager Lynne Llewellyn said. "We're trying something new."

Bring or send the photos to The Brazil Times, 100 N. Meridian St., Brazil, or e-mail the photographs and information to brazilads@yahoo.com. Those wishing to take part are asked to send the photographs to The Times by Wednesday, Feb. 10.

Through this promotional venture, The Times will also ask for donations for Relay For Life.

In addition, a one month subscription will be given to the couple who turns in information as the Longest Married Couple.

The special issue will be printed on pink paper and the photos will be printed in order of the age of the photograph. Cost for a two-column, two-inch ad is only $15.

Llewellyn said she hopes it becomes an annual event.

"We'll probably continue," she said. "If we get a lot of participation, we'll probably do it every year."

As well, The Times doesn't plan on leaving out children.

Parents are encouraged to submit their child's photo for The Times' "Be My Valentine" special front page spot.

The child may say who they want to be their valentine or just say Happy Valentine's Day.

There are 10 spots available, from Feb. 1-13. All interested should bring photographs to The Brazil Times.

Cost is $25 and will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis.

"Basically, we're just trying to celebrate love," Llewellyn said.
