The Northview freshman basketball team hit its first three shots, including a pair of 3-pointers and cruised to a comfortable, 42-26 victory.

The Knights scored the first 15 points of the game and forced four early turnovers as both Garrett Baysinger and Travis Hakman knocked home 3-pointers. Northview pulled out to a 17-2 lead after one quarter of action. Craig Peters scored a pair of buckets along with forward Bryce Britton.

South Putnam got untracked offensively as Northview backed off on its full court defense. The Eagles had trouble keeping 6'4 Ryan Chestnut off the glass and hit five points in the second quarter to get South Putnam going. Northview still held a 29-9 lead at the break as Jordan Tracy sank a 3-pointer as part of his eight-point evening. Devin Clark also nailed a trey to push the lead to 20 points at the break.

Chestnut continued to play well in the second half, controlling the glass to the tune of 10 rebounds in the game. He also got the scoring started in the third quarter with a score and Kinser Franklin added a free throw for the Eagles.

Tracy answered back for the Knights with a 3-pointer to push the lead back to 32-12 before JD Briones scored for the Eagles. A jumper from Nick Scott and a free throw from Logan Pell got the Eagles within 34-17.

A 3-pointer from Baysinger broke an offensive slump by the Knights to close the scoring in the period.

Bryce Britton (No. 53) scored a pair of early baskets in the Knights' win over South Putnam on Wednesday night.
South Putnam wasn't packing up just yet despite a 37-17 deficit to start the fourth quarter. The Eagles continued to roll against Northview's bench as Chestnut scored off his own offensive rebound and Scott sank a 3-pointer. The Eagles strung together an 11-0 run to get within 39-26 before Baysinger capped the scoring with a 3-pointer.

The Knights were led by Baysinger's 12 points and eight from Tracy.

On Monday night, the Knights got a go-ahead 3-pointer from Peters late in a game against Plainfield, but missed a couple late free throws to fall 48-45 to the Quakers.

Northview led 25-17 at halftime, but was outscored 31-20 after the break despite an 18-point effort from Braden Parr and 10 from Britton. Peters added eight for the Knights and Hakman tallied four.

The Knights (5-8 overall) travel to the North Montgomery Invite on Saturday and face Richmond in the opening game.
