Anita Jean Sherfey, 93, Brazil, died at 7 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Clay County, Ind., as the daughter of Albert and Flara Gallagher Tribble.

Following graduation from Brazil High School, she attended the Indiana Business College.

She married W. David Sherfey in Indianapolis Sept. 4, 1939.

Along with her husband, she worked in the family business, Sherfey and Kidd Furniture Store in Brazil until her retirement in 1971.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brazil, Eastern Star, Tri Kappa Sorority and Ladies BPOE Elks. She had been a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed playing bridge with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, and son-in-law Richard W. Kerr.

She is survived by daughters Karolyn Kerr and Diane Lawson, both of Brazil, grandchildren Michael David Woodall (Laurie), Indianapolis, Bethany Jo Phyne, Noblesville, and John Robert Lawson, great-grandchildren Arden Woodall, Indianapolis, sister-in-law Charlotte Sherfey, Danville, Ind., life-long friend Elaine Hauk, Center Point, and other extended family.

Moore Funeral Home was chosen to provide graveside funeral services at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Summit Lawn Cemetery, with Rev. Tony Alstott officiating.
