The Northview Knights' girls basketball team might be having a burning party after practice on Monday. It might have happened on Saturday night after Owen Valley 's Patriots overwhelmed the Knights 67-25 at Northview High School .

The Patriots jumped out to a 23-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Owen Valley, 15-4 overall and 5-0 in the WIC, led 38-10 at halftime and 55-14 going into the fourth quarter.

"We basically told (the players after the game) we have to forget about these games and move on. That's all you can do when you get blown out by that much and you weren't even really in the game," Northview coach LuAnne Anderson said.

The Patriots were led by returnees from last year's state runner-up team, Sam Cooper with 19 points, Mack Evans with 14 and forward Kaitlin Seatman with 11.

Once the game was out of hand, Anderson played everyone dressed and used the time to teach. Northview was led by Ashley Hughes' six points, all coming in the fourth quarter.

"Every game is a learning experience game. There were a lot of bad spots tonight, but there were some good spots," Anderson said.

"One good spot was the fourth quarter where we played our entire subs. A lot of them, this is the first time they have seen varsity action and I thought they stepped up and did a nice job," Anderson pointed out.

The Knights committed 30 turnovers in the loss and shot just 29 percent (8-27) from the floor.

"In the first part of the game I thought we had some bright spots when we started to work on our defense and we started to move the ball on offense a little bit. But we just have those spurts when we forget and we kind of give up a little bit," Anderson said.

The Knights will try to get back on track Tuesday night when they host Clay City.
