The Clay City junior high boys' basketball teams split a pair of contests against North Central on Monday night.
The seventh-grade team improved to 11-4 overall with a 44-28 victory against the Thunderbirds.
The Eels used their fullcourt press to force a number of turnovers, which fed their offense and some easy baskets.
Cade Newton topped the team with 12 points and Logan Ames had a team-high12 rebounds for the Eels. Paiden Myers added 10 points and Evan Rogers contributed eight.
In the eighth-grade game, the Eels got off to a slow start, but still posted an 18-point second quarter. However, Clay City still trailed by five at halftime and couldn't get over the hump in a 41-28 loss.
Wyatt Gard had a team-high nine points followed by six from Nelson Effner and four from Josh Miller.
