Dorothy L. Slavens, 81, Indianapolis, formerly of Brazil, passed away Jan. 31, 2010
She was born Dorothy McClelland, Sept. 11, 1928. She moved to Indianapolis in 1968. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Lem and Zena (Cofer) McClelland.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. Dorothy was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Fellowship in Greenwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn Slavens, infant daughter Carolyn Sue, three sister and five brothers.
Survivors include two daughters Norma Jean (Bill) Megenhardt, and Zena (Steve) Riddell, four sons, Kenny White, John (Sarah) Slavens, Ricky (Brenda) Slaves and Billy Slavens, 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other extended family members.
Services are at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Usher Funeral Home, 2313 W. Washington St., Indianapolis. Burial will follow in New Crown Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
