He was born in Clay County Dec. 12, 1927, to John G. Lash and Margaret Schmaus Lash.
He was a retired maintenance mechanic for the U.S. Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Bean Lash, whom he married Oct. 15, 1949. Also surviving are sons Glen Lash (and his wife Jayne), Bill Lash (and wife Katy), and daughter Nancy Eversole (and husband John). Other survivors include his grandchildren Jennifer Daum (and husband Troy), Justin Lash (and wife Jenny), Andrea Limke (and husband Andrew), Valarie Jacobsen (and husband Michael), Cristina Allen (and husband Rich), Evan Saurer, and Kelsey Saurer, and great-grandchildren Mary Daum, Ruth Daum and Ellie Lash. Also surviving is brother John F. Lash (and wife Selma), and brother-in-law Leonard Earl Bean (and wife JoAnn), as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold Lash, Charles Lash, Marvin Lash and Donald Lash, sisters Mable Pell and Eva Searcy, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Effie Bean.
He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with Pastor Aaron Wheaton officiating. Burial will be in Van Cleve Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, in the funeral home.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in his memory.
