Do you have plans for Saturday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.?
Would you like to have fun and learn what Clay County 4-H is all about?
I hope you will plan on joining us on Feb. 20. Things are happening and I would like for you to be a part of the action.
I guarantee you will have fun and meet lots of great people. There will be games, animal displays, face painting, make and take crafts, refreshments and prizes for everyone. This event is free and open to the public. I hope you will bring all of your family and friends with you to this extravaganza.
Upon entering the door of the 4-H Exhibit Hall, each child will receive four tickets, which lets them play four games. Additional tickets will be available for 25 cents each. Some of the games will include the candy bar walk, corn hole and shooting hoops.
If you play games, you receive tickets that can be cashed in for prizes.
While you are attending this fun time, you can learn about the 4-H program and all of the projects and activities that are available by participating. 4-H is free and open to any child in grades 3-12. With around 60 different projects to choose from, there is something for everyone. Projects range from Aquatic Science (fish) to woodworking with everything you can imagine in between.
Once you join 4-H, it gets "in your blood," and many, many kids stay with the program their entire 10 years of eligibility. 4-H is a family activity and many strong bonds are formed while participating in the program, both with family and the lifelong friends you will make.
If you are in the first- or second-grade, we also have a program for you called Mini 4-H. With 17 different projects to choose from, it will be hard to choose only one or two projects to complete. This program is free and we welcome everyone. The meetings take place at 6 p.m., on the third Monday of March, April, May and June.
We make crafts, learn about projects, have a snack and do recreation at the meeting. The hour flies by before you know it.
All of your completed projects will be displayed in a special room at the Clay County 4-H Fair in July along with the regular 4-H projects.
If you have any questions about 4-H or the upcoming 4-H Expo, call our office at 448-9041 and we will be happy to help you.
I hope to see you on Saturday.
