Northview track athletes compete indoors

The Northview boys track and field team has had several athletes competing in various indoor track and field meets in attempts to qualify for the Hoosier State Relay Indoor State Finals on March 20 at Purdue University.

Senior Conor Strain ran in the Indiana Track Club Winter Open in Bloomington on Feb. 13 and placed 19th out of 56 competitors in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:42.18.

Junior Joel Whittington has participated in several open meets at Indiana State University. His best finish in the 55-meter dash was a fourth-place at the first ISU Open Race. Whittington timed a 6.07 in the event.

In the 55-meter hurdles, Whittington placed second in the event with a time of 8.32 in the third open race at ISU, both performances were personal bests.

Northview will also have several athletes competing in the Western Indiana High School Indoor Invite at DePauw University on Feb. 27. The Knights will be competing as a team in the Sullivan High School Indoor Classic on March 9 and 11th.
