Police officials want to warn parents about an alleged attempt to abduct a child in the Brazil area Thursday evening.

According to Brazil City Police Department Sgt. Dennis Archer, around 3:45 p.m., an unidentified family in the Edgewood subdivision reported a man in a gold, newer-model Ford pickup truck attempted to talk their child into getting inside the vehicle.

Archer said when the 7-year-old boy, who was in front of his home on Ringo Street, refused the suspect's persistent attempts and ran inside. The man quickly drove north in the direction of the Forest Park Plaza.

The white male suspect is described as possibly being in his 40s to early 50s with white hair and a goatee, wearing a blue baseball hat and sunglasses.

"Parents need to be made aware of these types of situations," Archer told The Brazil Times about the ongoing investigation. "To help make sure children are kept safe."

To report suspicious activity in a neighborhood or information regarding this case or any other, contact the Brazil City Police Department at 446-2211.

This man approached my 10 year old grand-daughter just minutes before approaching the 7 year old. She was walking down Pinecrest and he pulled up next to her and said some obscene remarks. Luckily she had a cell phone on her and as soon as he saw it he sped away. Pray the police will catch this pervert before he harms a child.

It has been pretty much determined that these were two seperate and unrelated incidences. With my grand-daughter it was a gold colored van and a much younger man with another man also riding in the van. The van had a lot of mud on it, especially on the back. We all need to be watching for a gold colored van. The driver was very unstable and shaking violently when he spoke obscenities to her. He was wearing a black or navy blue stocking cap and green and brown jacket and smoking a cigarette. He had blonde hair and a blonde goatee. He drove east on Pinecrest to Murphy Ave and then turned south. Hopefully someone will be able to give some information to lead to the arrest of these two men before they harm any children.
