On Thursday, Gov. Mitch Daniels directed that flags in Clay County be lowered to half-staff Friday, in honor of Marine Cpl. Gregory Scott Stultz.

According to the United States Department of Defense, Cpl. Stultz died Friday, Feb. 19, while "supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan," in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Cpl. Stultz was a 2006 graduate of Northview High School.

His body was flown from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to the Terre Haute International Airport. From there, a motorcade escorted his body back to Brazil as residents lined the streets to honor him, before the procession ended at French Funeral Home.

Visitation is scheduled to take place from 3-8 p.m., today, at Christ Community Church, 10942 N. State Road 59, Brazil, and also at 11 a.m., until time of services Friday.

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, at the church, with Stoney Lalen officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil, Ind., 47834, or United Service Organization, 2111 Wilson Blvd., Suite 1200, Arlington, Va., 22201.
