ROCKVILLE -- The first ever presentation of the Koenig Forestry award will be celebrated Friday, March 12, at Clark's Reception Hall, east of Rockville.
The Forestry Committee of Sycamore Trails Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council has established the award in memory of Robert Koenig, a highly respected forester and member of the committee.
Although this is the first year for the Koenig award, the annual Forestry awards banquet itself has been a Sycamore Trails tradition for nearly 20 years. The evening will include a dinner, door prizes, a brief live auction and presentation of awards honoring achievement in forest stewardship.
The featured speaker for the event will be Thomas Swinford, Regional Ecologist for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Nature Preserves. He will speak on "Woodland, Wetland, Stream and Prairie: Natural Areas of the Mid-Wabash."
Reservations are required by March 3, 2010. Cost is $12 per person, with reduced rates for children.
For more information or to make a reservation, contact the Sycamore Trails RC&D office by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 1-765-653-9785.
