TERRE HAUTE -- The 2010 Bowl for Kids Sake is Big Brothers/Big Sisters' largest and most important annual fund-raising event. BBBS hopes to surpass last year's total throughout this year's campaign, which culminates with a series of community bowling events on March 13, 20 and 22, at the Terre Haute Bowling Center, 630 Springhill Drive. Bowlers can choose to bowl during College Night, March 22 from 9-11 p.m., or any of the six sessions offered on Saturday, March 13 or 29, from noon-2 p.m., 2-4 p.m. or special glow bowling sessions from 11 p.m.-1 a.m.
Board members and team captains representing area business and organizations are working to challenge the community to become involved in supporting youth mentoring by forming a team and raisins pledges to support BBBS and receive two free games of bowling and the chance to win great prizes.
Numerous prizes have been donated by area merchants to be awarded to the bowlers during their two free games of bowling.
Items include gift certificates, car was coupons, hair care products, collector coins, gift baskets and two free round-trip airline tickets good anywhere in the continental United States, compliments of IT Travel.
All bowlers who raise a minimum of $35 will receive a special commemorative T-shirt, and those who raise $75 or more will receive the T-shirt and a sweatshirt, and will be eligible for special prize drawings.
Several opportunities exist for corporate sponsorships from Title Sponsors to Strike, Spare or Lane Rake levels. Sponsors will have their name and logo displayed on various Bowl For Kids Sake materials, including print and billboard ads as well as display of their name and logo at Terre Haute Bowling Center during the month of March. Businesses and organizations that would like to become a sponsor or would like to enter a team, contact Executive Director Betty Fisher James at (812) 234-0709 or toll free at 1-877-348-8175.
Bowl For Kids Sake is Big Brothers/Big Sisters most successful annual fundraiser.
The agency goal for 2010 is $60,000, which will be designated toward current youth mentoring programs in the community and schools as well as expansion of programs in the six counties served by BBBS, which are Vigo, Vermillion, Sullivan, Clay and Parke in Indiana and Clark in Illinois.
"Our service to over 400 children provides guidance and friendship and strengthens the community in numerous ways," Executive Director Betty Fisher James said. "Bowl for Kids Sake is fun, easy and a great way to spend quality time with family and friends while supporting a worthwhile program that enhances our community and helps families."
All revenue raised during Bowl For Kids Sake will be designated toward our many youth mentoring programs in the community and schools for the upcoming year.
