Rosemary Targett Remington, 87, Brazil, died Feb. 22, 2010, at 4:25 p.m., at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility.

She was born May 19, 1923, in Putnam County, the daughter of George Targett and Charlotte "Lottie" Albright Targett.

She graduated from Brazil High School, class of 1941.

She has been a long time member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Brazil.

As a young woman, Rosemary worked at Continental Car-na-var.

Later, she and her mother owned and operated the Blue Moon Restaurant, the Davis Hotel Restaurant and the Sandwich Shoppe.

She was also the owner of the Model Dress Shop, worked for G.C. Murphy and Loeb Dry Goods Store, all here in Brazil.

She also was a buyer for Wm. H. Block Co., in Indianapolis.

At the age of 37, she made a life decision to join the U.S. Army.

She served in the Army for more than 20 years, retiring in May 1978. She was a manager for American Brokerage for a time as well.

While in the Army, Rosemary received the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, Meritorious Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal 2nd Oak Leaf.

Rosemary had memberships in several community organizations, including American Business Women's Association, Disabled American Veterans Chap. No. 9, Terre Haute, and the U.S. Army Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lottie Targett.

Survivors include her church family and special friends Virginia and Dick McGranahan, and other extended family.

Services will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, with Pastor Jason Selby officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to services.
