BP Illico, located at State Road 59 and Interstate-70, Brazil, will conduct its second MDA Day, Saturday, March 5, with the hope of raising money to send children with muscular dystrophy to summer camp.
The event, which is scheduled to run from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., at the station, will feature a silent auction, raffling off various prizes such as grills and athletic memorabilia, including a Miller Lite Racing Hood and football helmets.
The event will also feature various children's games and a chili dog dinner.
MDA Day will take place at all eight BP Illico stations in both Indiana and Illinois. Last year, in the first effort to ever include the Brazil chain, employee Peggy Biddle collected the most money out of all participating stores.
Store Manager Kim Quilliam encouraged all interested parties to participate in MDA Day, saying it was a great opportunity to improve the lives of children who have experienced a great deal of hardship.
"Who couldn't help a kid who gets a chance to be normal?" Quilliam said. "They get to spend a week away from their disease. For that week, they can do anything their heart desires. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?"
All proceeds from MDA Day are distributed locally.
