Friday, March 19, 2010

Area agencies and consumers will work 9 a.m.-noon, providing community services Wednesday as part of Disability Awareness Month activities in the Wabash Valley.

Those interested in taking part are urged to meet at the Booker T. Washington Community Center in Terre Haute to help clean up the park at the site.

Bridges of Indiana consumers and staff will also come together at 3rd Street and Wabash Avenue at 9 a.m., to work with the Terre Haute Street Department.

In Brazil, CARS-Services will have consumers and staff working at Forest Park, from 10 a.m.-noon.

Former Indiana State University women's basketball player and current assistant coach Melanie Boeglin will join Henry.

On Tuesday, from 8:30-10 a.m., MIX-FM on-air personalities Tim and Stacey will work their morning show with wheelchairs and low vision glasses.

On Wednesday, at 2:45 p.m., ISU Football coach Trent Miles will conduct a team strength training event in a wheelchair, and on Thursday throughout the day, Ivy Tech Community College Disabilities Service Advisor Jamie Frey will use a wheelchair during her daily routine.
