I grew up in Owen, Greene and Clay counties in the 1960s and 1970s.

I attended six elementary schools before attending and graduating from Clay City High School in 1973.

After graduation, I went on active duty in the United States Marine Corps, where I served for 12 years, performing a variety of duties that included planning various unit missions up to the brigade level, researching the requirements needed to accomplish missions, and supervising troops in the accomplishment of those missions.

While I have experience in several career fields following my service, such as construction, facilities maintenance, vehicular maintenance, logistics, and product assembly in factories, I feel that the training and experience I gained as part of my Marine Corps service will best serve the Clay Community Schools Corporation.

My other employers include Columbia House, Great Dane, Worthington Packing, Bendix Field Engineering Corporation, and Allied-Signal in a variety of positions up to supervisory along with several trucking firms as both a mechanic and truck driver.

I am currently semi-retired with a service related disability that precludes regular employment, but which will not prevent me from performing the duties of a member of the Clay Community Schools Board of Trustees. My situation will allow me to devote more of my time to fulfilling my duties as a board member.

I believe that education is the key to success. I understand that to represent all of the stakeholders of the Clay Community Schools Corporation will require all of the leadership traits and principles I learned, refined and utilized to perform my duties as a Marine, plus being committed to advancing education within the corporation.

My mission is maximum education for the students and maximum appropriate compensation for employees of the corporation at minimum cost to the taxpayer, while planning for the future of the corporation and taking care of the corporation's assets. While I have been involved in this mission for the past several years, if elected to the school board, would better position me to accomplish my part in this.

This is why I am running for Clay Community Schools Corporation Trustee, At-Large.
