Lana L. Arnold, 60, Clay City, passed away March 26, 2010, at noon, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born May 31, 1949, in Clay County, the daughter of Albert West and Ruth Leohr West.

On May 31, 1969, Lana was united in marriage to James Robert "Bob" Arnold.

She was a member of the First Brethren Church and attended the Friendly Grove Baptist Church.

In 1987, she began working at the Clay City Elementary School as the custodian and continued working until she retired in August 2009. She has also cleaned the Post Office and the Auto Parts Store for many years. She was a lady who didn't like to have idle hands. She cleaned houses, businesses and cut grass until the cancer became too aggressive. It was well known that she truly enjoyed cutting grass, with a push mower, and would get aggravated if someone else beat her at cutting the lawn.

Lana was one who loved to be outdoors and spent many family days at Shakamak swimming and sitting by the water. She was a devoted wife, mother and mamaw. The time she spent with Jodee and Oaklee was treasured time that will always be remembered.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother Robert Dean West.

Survivors include her husband Bob Arnold, Clay City, daughter Jodee Beder and husband Doug, Center Point, granddaughter Oaklee Beder, sister Nancy Withers and husband Steve, Knightsville, niece Mandy Hill and husband Scott, Brazil, nephew Dustin Withers and wife Cari, Cory, great-nephew Brylan Hill and great-nieces Morgan and Amelia Withers, and other extended family and a host of friends.

Services will take place at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, from 4-8 p.m., and again Tuesday prior to services.
