Northview High School sophomore Jacob Dispennett was presented with the first-place award for his five-minute memorized 4-Way Test speech during the Rotary Club of Brazil's March 31 meeting. The contest took place last month with panel judging at PriMerica. After presenting his speech to club members and guests gathered at the YMCA of Clay County Community Room, Dispennett now advances on to Salem, Ind., April 10, when he competes in the regional 4-Way speech contest. Along with Dispennett were Harris Bank Manager and Rotary Club officer Lena Khudayeva (left) and Rotary President-elect Dr. Miranda Goodale. Harris Bank provided a $100 grand prize. In addition, Dispennett was presented with a certificate, a 2009 Rotary Celebration T-shirt and pocket coin bearing the 4-Way Test.
