Clay City student awarded scholarship

Marleah Tryon was one of 10 recipients to receive a $1,000 scholarship from Endeavor Communications recently at South Putnam High School during Endeavor's annual meeting.

Marleah is currently a senior at Clay City High School. She will be attending Indiana State University in the fall for nursing, where she plans to specialize in the field of trauma. She currently is working on obtaining her EMT certification through Poland Fire Department, which will be completed prior to attending ISU in the fall and will earn her additional credits toward college.

Marleah is the daughter of Rob and Glenna Cheesman, Bowling Green, and is a member of Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department.

After college, Marleah plans to remain in the area and work in either a local emergency room or ambulance service, as well as remain as a volunteer firefighter in her community.
