Peggy Y. Toney, 79, Brazil, formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., died April 9, 2010, at Royal Oaks Healthcare Facility.
She had been a resident there for only two days and had been only two weeks.
She was born Feb. 7, 1931, in Parke County, Ind., the daughter of Tince Walters and Thelma Cliver Walters. She attended school in Mecca. Several years ago, she moved to the Jacksonville, Fla., area and was a child care provider. She moved to Brazil in 2005 to be close to her daughter.
She enjoyed going to the Senior Center in Brazil. She also enjoyed going "to the boat" with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Marsha Pisut, granddaughter Melissa Pisut, and niece Wendi Jones.
Survivors include daughters Marka Davis and husband Gary Miller, Brazil, and Toni Kwaitkoski and husband Fred, Seattle, son Jeff Toney and wife Marie, Jacksonville, Fla., grandchildren Mandy, Shannon, Chance, Chandra, Jordan, Mathew, Scott and Mitchel, several great- and great-great-grandchildren, sisters Jeri Dean (Bill), Albuquerque, and Jill Dodds (Bert), Martinsville, brothers Joe Walters (Cheryl), Nysville, and Don Walters (Joann), Clinton, several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Peggy's wish was for everyone to celebrate her life, not grieve her death. She requested to have cremation to take place and her ashes scattered at Jacksonville Beach, Fla. An account has been established at Fifth Third Bank to be able to take her back to Florida. The family would be thankful for any donations. French Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
