The Northview 'B' baseball team split a pair of early week games against West Vigo and Bloomington North.
The Knights struggled defensively on Monday night, committing 10 errors in falling to the Vikings by a 10-4 count. Northview then bounced back Tuesday to knock off Bloomington North by an identical 10-4 decision.
"This was definitely a tale of two different games, we played horrible on Monday against West Vigo, but were able to turn it around and beat a good Bloomington North team," coach Craig Trout said. "We had ten errors on Monday against West Vigo, but really improved on Tuesday and cut those mistakes back."
In the loss against the Vikings, Zach Hull got the pitching start and went the first 1 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, but just one earned run. Coleman Craig came on in relief and went 2 1/3 innings, striking out five batters and also allowed just one earned run along with one hit.
At the plate, Tyler Wilson had a double and an RBI, Bryant Pestoff picked up a hit with an RBI and Brock Smith also had a base hit.
On Tuesday, the Knights got four hits and two doubles apiece from Tyler Trout and Smith with Pestoff blasting a home run and driving in three runs. Trout added two RBI with Smith bringing home one run.
Smith got the pitching victory allowing four hits over five innings and striking out four. Curtis Grove finished the game in relief with an inning of work.
"Overall I think the kids did a great job righting the ship after the poor performance on Monday," Trout said. "We have to give a lot of credit to our pitching on both days, if we can field the ball and keep hitting this team has a lot of potential."
