TERRE HAUTE -- The March of Dimes will conduct the annual March for Babies Wabash Valley, Saturday, April 24.
The event is scheduled for walker and team check-ins at 7:30 a.m., with an opening ceremony set for 8 a.m. The walk is scheduled for 9 a.m.
March for Babies offers two routes of choice, a five- or two-mile walk. The walks will begin at the Indiana State University Memorial Stadium and end at the stadium.
The event is for moms, families, corporate teams and all that care about babies and the future health of all babies. The march is the March of Dimes' premier fundraising event that benefits all babies -- those born healthy as well as those who need help to survive and thrive.
Premature birth touches half a million babies and their families every year, including one in eight and more than 11,000 in Indiana. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have disabilities.
More than 120,000 babies are born with serious birth defects that can mean a lifetime of disability and birth defects are the leading cause of infant mortality.
