The Clay City Eels added a second conference win to their resume this week with a 14-4 victory over White River Valley on the road Thursday night.

The Eels displayed plenty of power in the win with AJ Evans drilling two home runs and both Tyler Bridgewater and Landry Moss adding one each.

The Eels got started quickly with a four-run outburst in the first inning as DJ Newton singled and stole second to precede Evans' first home run of the game. Kole Smith followed with a single and then came home on an RBI triple by Tanner Persinger. Zach Boggs brought home the fourth run with an RBI double to leftfield.

The Eels pushed their lead to 5-0 before the Wolverines were able to push across a pair of runs against Evans, who got the start and the win for Clay City.

In the fourth inning the Eels broke the game open as Brylan Jones reached base after being hit-by-pitch and then moved up on a base hit by Moss.

Newton added an RBI to a 3-for-4 night at the plate by doubling to leftfield to bring Jones home. Ben Denker hit an RBI sacrifice fly to centerfield and Evans ripped a three-run home run. Bridgewater joined the party immediately after by smacking his own roundtripper for the Eels.

With a 10-2 lead, Clay City wasn't done just yet, adding a single run in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth inning. White River Valley was able to score twice in the bottom of the sixth, but wasn't able to add to the total as the game ended via the 10-run rule.

In the game, Newton scored three times, stole a base and drove in a run and Evans had four RBI while going 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs. Boggs was 2-for-3, scored once, had a double, RBI and a stolen base for the Eels and Moss also had two hits while scoring twice and driving in a run.

Evans threw 5 1/3 innings, allowed four hits, four earned runs and struckout six. Newton then came in to relieve him with 2/3 of an inning of work.

Clay City (3-2 overall, 1-1 SWIAC) hosts Eastern Greene on Monday.
