According to information on file at the Clay County Courthouse, Mark Thomas, 52, was taken into custody at the scene of the incident by Brazil City Police and preliminarily charged with class C felony battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
To protect the integrity of the investigation, no information was released about the cause of the altercation or the condition of the victim.
Thomas appeared before Clay Circuit Court Judge Joseph Trout Friday.
The judge signed the probable cause affidavit allowing further incarceration, set bond at $10,000 cash with no 10 percent allowed and returned Thomas into the custody of the jail staff to await further court proceedings.
