The Northview Knights continued to flex their baseball muscle on Saturday afternoon, sending potential sectional foe, Plainfield, home with a twinbill sweep, 9-0 and 21-6 in five innings.

In the first game, the Knights got six innings of one-hit baseball from Kodie Girton on the mound. Girton struckout seven while walking just one batter to get the victory. JT Jeffries came in and finished out the seventh inning.

"Kodie was outstanding the entire game," coach Scott McDonald said. "He was able to get all three of his pitches over at any time. Our defense was outstanding, making some great plays. We simply grinded out their pitching and never allowed them to get in the game."

At the plate, Northview got a pair of hits from Girton to go with doubles from Zac Niehaus and Seth Lunsford. Joey Thomas had a 3-for-3 game at the plate for the Knights.

In the second game, the Knights pounded out 20 hits against the Quakers, posting 10 runs in the second inning.

Drake Stevenson went 4-for-5 and Andrew Butts added three hits with a pair of doubles. Niehaus doubled and tripled in the victory and Zach Hull, Roy Brown and TJ Decker all had two hits apiece. Thomas Jordan Allen added a double for good measure.

Craig Bell got the start and worked the first 3 1/3 innings to get the victory. Bell was relieved by Brock Wheeler before Jeffries finished the second game as well.

"Craig threw the ball very well today. We had a couple of plays that let them get their runs in the second inning," McDonald said. "The offense pounded out 20 hits in the second game. For the day, we put up 29 runs on 32 hits. We needed to do a better job in getting Craig (Bell) off the field. He has had some tough luck with bad hops and mistakes on defense. He maintained his composure and pitched much better. That is another sectional opponent that we were able to send a message to.

"Decker threw well on Thursday, Girton and Bell were very good today, and the other guys have done a good job on the mound," McDonald added.
