He was born July 11, 1917, in Terre Haute, as the son of William A. and Blanche Evans Frederick.
He graduated from Petersburg High School and then completed two years of college work at Terre Haute Commercial College.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and served until his honorable discharge as a 2nd Lieutenant, Infantry Unit Commander, in 1953.
He began a long career as a banker and retired as President of First Bank and Trust Company.
He was a member of the BPOE Elks, Kiwanis, and the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church of Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Gwen Kernon Frederick in 1994, and second wife Norma Whitmarsh Frederick in 2008.
He is survived by sons Steve J. Frederick and wife Connie, and Alva Frederick and wife Elizabeth, grandchildren Kirk Frederick, Jeff Frederick, Kara Syx, Marie Frederick, Anne Hamilton, Scott Kelly and Matt Kelly, 14 great-grandchildren, brother Burnie Frederick and wife Lois, and other extended family.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, April 22, at Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Rick Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
