CLAY CITY -- The third inning was pivotal for both the Clay City softball and baseball teams on Saturday afternoon.
The softball teamed tallied three runs on break open a 5-1 victory over the Warriors while the baseball team put four runs on the board the same inning to take a 6-2 victory.
In the softball game, the Eels got a solo home run from Madison Booe, who went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and winning pitcher, Shelby Targett, hit a double as part of a two-hit game. Mikayla Riggs added a two-run single in the victory that improved the Eels' record to 10-4 overall.
The baseball team got a double and two RBI from Tyler Bridgewater and Tanner Persinger went 2-for-2 at the plate as the Eels overcame a one-run deficit after the first inning on the way to the victory.
Clay City is now 5-3 and travels to Vincennes Rivet tonight for a 5 p.m. game and the softball team hosts North Central tonight at 4:30 p.m.
