Covered Bridge Art Association 36th Annual Spring Art Show

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Covered Bridge Art Association, the 25th year on the Square in Rockville, and their 36th Spring Art Show. Those Tri Kappa members had high hopes for the organization they helped form, but you wonder if even they knew it would be the beginning of what is now one of oldest (and best, pardon the prejudice) art assoaciations in the Wabash Valley. Three of the original group are still active members: Delores Collings, Louise Michael, and Lois Sciotto.

Everyone is invited to join in this special celebration. Also, enjoy the special window displays with both the past and present depicted. Refreshments will be served during the Opening Night, Thursday, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Door prizes consisting of an oil by Carol Nickey, colored pencil by Ellen Shaffer, and a water color by Robert Whitmore. There is no charge for any of these.

Those attending through the weekend may vote for "The Most Popular" award.

Chiz Henrichs of Brazil, will judge the art work. She is a graduate of the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and taught there several years. She also has classes in her studio. Her art has been exhibited all over the U.S. including California, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. She is well known for her watercolor and porcelain painting.

This year's show is dedicated to the memory of former member, Eda Pastore.

The show will run through May 31. All entries will remain hanging until the end of the show. Entries that are sold may be picked up at that time or they will be delivered by the artist.

The Gallery is located on the north side of the Historic Square in Rockville. Hours are daily 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (except closed on Tuesday) and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. For more information call 765-569-9422 or visit the website at www.coveredbriddgeartgallery.com.
