Northview girls win battle over potential sectional foe

The Northview girls' tennis team scored a big win over a potential sectional foe on Tuesday night, defeating Owen Valley, 3-2.

The Knights got a strong victory at No. 1 singles by Hannah Pond, 6-1, 6-2 over Nicole Duling to get the win rolling and both doubles teams were clinched the team win.

Lauren Reberger and Briana Cook teamed at No. 1 doubles to defeat the Patriots' Madeline Sego and Erin Truax, 6-3, 6-1 and at No. 2 doubles, Carli Coughanowr and Elizabeth Emmert claimed a battle, 7-6 (9-7), 6-2.

"There were some close matches tonight and I was really proud of the girls," coach Emily Goff said. "Although we still have some spots we need to work on, we had several girls step up tonight and play to their potential."

The Knights swept in junior varsity action as Kaylee Clark won the lone singles match, 9-8 (8-6).

In doubles, Justine Farris and Danielle Latourette won at No. 1, Miranda Brossman and Kaylee Edington won at No. 2 and the duo of Hannah Hayes and Trisha Cox won at No. 3.

Northview travels to Edgewood on Thursday evening at 5 p.m.
