Candidate feels he can contribute to corporation

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

My name is Rob Miller.

I am a candidate for Clay Community School Board of Trustees, At-Large.

I am running for this because I feel that I can contribute to our schools and community by serving on the School Board.

I am a lifelong resident of Clay County. I graduated in 1985 from Clay City High School. I received a degree in Elementary Education from Indiana State University in 1989. I taught one year at Clay City Elementary, two years at Whiteland Elementary in Johnson County, then returned to teach six more years at Clay City Elementary.

My wife, Lori, and I were co-owners of Miller's IGA in Clay City for 11 years. We also are co-owners of Angel Falls Water Co., in Clay City. We are very proud of both of these businesses and the family members who are involved with them. I now own Rob Miller Trucking Co., hauling grain and equipment.

Lori and I have been married for 16 years and have two children, Josh, 14, and Kaylee, 6. Josh and Kaylee are students at Clay City. We live south of Clay City. Our family actively attends Union Chapel Nazarene Church. I am active in the Clay City Lions Club, serve as a trustee on our church board and am a member of the Clay County Extension Board.

I would like to have the opportunity to serve the community by being on our school board.

I feel that my background in education and business will give me a foundation for serving on the board. I would like to see our schools move forward with the education of our students, first and foremost.
