David Geary, 80, Poland, formerly of Kokomo, passed away at his residence April 29, 2010, following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Mervin Geary and Florence Schafer Geary.
David graduated from West Middleton High School in West Middleton, class of 1948. He worked at Schiff Shoes and was the manager for several years. Most recently, he owned and operated "Geary's Surplus," in Kokomo and Brazil. He married Amaryllis "Amy" Kinney March 12, 1950.
He was a member of West Middleton United Methodist Church, West Middleton, Ind., and recently attended Big Walnut Missionary Baptist Church near Reelsville, Ind.
On the weekends, he enjoyed attending gun shows, and dabbling with antique vehicles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife Amy Geary, Poland, daughters Deborah Herr and husband Greg, Cincinnati, Ohio, Pam Green and Lanny Woodward, Kokomo, sons David Geary and wife Deborah, Logansport, Ind., and Tracey Geary, Poland, grandchildren Joshua, Joe, Jon, Aaron, Chris, Rachel and Amanda, nine great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Services will take place Monday, at 4 p.m., at French Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Goss. Visitation will be Monday, from 2-4 p.m.
At his request, cremation will take place.
