Northview's golf team overcame extremely windy conditions to earn one of its most impressive wins of the season against Terre Haute North on Thursday.
The Knights earned a 144-155 win over the Patriots, handling the gusting conditions far better than the visiting Patriots.
Daniel Eaglin led the charge, shooting a one under par 34, which he capped with back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes. Right behind Eaglin were Josh Hoskins and Drew Snyder, who shot 35 and 36 respectively. Coach Scott Buell was all smiles following the match, praising his team's ability to play in such hazardous conditions.
"I am really pleased with our effort tonight," Buell said. "When it's blowing like that, it's hard to get the ball where you want it to go. That's a really good score for how windy it was."
Brad Smith capped Northview's scoring with a 39. Non-qualifying scorers were Jarrod Short (42) and Ryan Turner (43).
With the win, the Knights improved their record to 6-1. Despite their impressive record, and their even more impressive showing on Thursday, Buell said his team still had room to improve, and stressed they weren't well off enough to become complacent.
"We're still not where we want to be yet," Buell said. "I'm pleased with how we are playing, but we still have work to do when it comes to our overall consistency."
The Knights are in action on Monday at Forest Park with a match against Linton and Terre Haute South.
