Junkyard Jam set for Saturday

Thursday, May 6, 2010

The Junkyard Jam, a percussion concert and clinic for area youth, will take place Saturday, at Northview High School.

The event will be conducted in the high school auditorium, beginning at 7 p.m.

The performance is open to the public. Admission is $1.

The concert will feature members of the NHS percussion section and area students in grades kindergarten-eighth, who have pre-registered and participated in the clinic that will take place throughout the day prior to the concert.

The concert will feature performances on a variety of percussion instruments along with the big "Junkyard Jam," that will include all the clinic participants.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Featured music includes a marimba solo by NHS junior Hallie Harbison, a snare drum solo by NHS freshman Dan Reberger, some marching cadences by the Northview Percussion Ensemble and a Drum Set Battle between North Clay Assistant Principal Pete Kikta, North Clay Band Director Jim Thistle, and Northview Assistant Band Director Rusty Bottomley.
