Northview tennis claims WIC title

SULLIVAN -- The Northview girls' tennis team put the finishing touches on a Western Indiana Conference title on Saturday, defeating both Sullivan and Brown County.

The Knights swept the Eagles by a 5-0 score, but in hard fought fashion and battled past the Golden Arrows, 3-2.

In the Brown County match, Conner Reinoehl claimed a 5-7, 6-4, 10-7 win at No. 3 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Carli Coughanowr and Elizabeth Emmert had an equally tough battle before winning, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.

Hannah Pond and Kaci Kehrt won straight set victories in singles play while Lauren Reberger and Briana Cook teamed to win 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.

Against Sullivan, the Arrows won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, but Kehrt won a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 2 singles and both doubles teams were winners to give the Knights the title.

Northview (8-3 overall) now hosts senior night against South Putnam tonight.
