CLINTON -- The Northview baseball team pounded out a 14-8 victory on the road at South Vermillion on Tuesday night.

The Knights spread out the playing time after putting 11 runs on the board in the first inning in a display that impressed even Northview's head coach, Scott McDonald.

"We absolutely dominated them the first four innings. We came out and hit the ball in the first inning like no team I have seen before," McDonald said. "We hit shot after shot, it seemed as though the first inning went on for ever. We were able to get a lot of kids in the game, which is always good. The guys that we brought into the game hit the ball well also."

The offensive barrage included two hits each from Andrew Butts, Kodie Girton and Caleb Mason.

Mason hit a double and a home run with four RBI's and two runs scored and Girton scored three times and added an RBI as well. Butts scored twice and stole a base and Jordan Allen added a three-run home run for the Knights. Zac Niehaus scored twice and had a base hit, Zach Hull had a single and two RBI's and Carson Kleiber added a single while driving in a run.

Also at the plate, Seth Lunsford, Curtis Grove, JT Jeffries, Drake Stevenson and Tyler Trout each had hits and Brock Wheeler drilled a two-base hit.

Also highlighting the evening as a triple play turned by the Knights with Jeffries on the mound.

South Vermillion hit a liner back to Jeffries, who threw to TJ Decker to double off a Wildcat at second base and then threw to Grove to complete the triple play.

On the mound, Mason threw an inning, allowing an earned run, walking a batter and striking out two. Kleiber came in to throw a 1 2/3 innings with a hit and an unearned run. Peters went 2 1/3 innings and allowed six hits and six runs, all unearned before Jeffries came in to finish off the win with two innings of work, allowing a hit and striking out one.

"Good win for us heading into our senior night on Friday against Owen Valley," McDonald said.

The Knights improve to 16-4 overall and 4-1 in the WIC.
