Evangeline Irene (Collins) Latta, 94, Cory, passed away at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, Brazil, at 11 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2010, following a brief illness.

She was born July 31, 1915, in Cory, the daughter of Russell and Floy (McCullough) Collins.

She graduated from Cory High School and married Everett "Pete" Latta Dec. 24, 1935.

Evangeline was a lifelong member of Cory Zion Church.

She also served with the Zion Ladies Circle and the Homemakers Extension Club, which she served as the Secretary Treasurer from 1959-1995.

She was preceded in death by her husband Everett "Pete" Latta and brother-in-law Elden Lowdermilk.

Survivors include her son Elvin Latta and wife Betty, Cory, granddaughter Valerie Fry and husband James, Cory, grandson Ryan Latta and wife Alicia, Central Bridge, N.Y., great-grandsons Calvin and Anakin Fry, and Ayden and Atley Latta, and sister Norma Jean Lowdermilk, Brazil.

Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Clay City, Friday, May 14, 2010, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Bill Riedel officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday, from noon until time of services.
