Myrna Monson Sproul
Myrna Monson Sproul, our cherished mother, grandmother, and grandma-great, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 15, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital due to a complicated recovery after emergency surgery March 8, 2010.
Her daughters were at her side.
Myrna was born July 4, 1922, in New Bedford, Ill. She attended Northern Illinois University and graduated with a bachelor's degree. On Feb. 5, 1943, she married Kenneth B. Sproul. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 1995.
Myrna was an elementary school teacher, primarily kindergarten, in the Malta and DeKalb, Illinois, school system for more than 30 years.
Myrna and Ken moved to Brazil in 1980 to be closer to family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brazil and PEO Sisterhood, Chapter K.
Myrna was also preceded in death by four treasured sisters Oreetha Peterson, Mazie Butler, Verla Dean and Virginia Butler, their husbands, and several extended family members.
She is survived by her son Dr. Kennard Sproul, Brazil, Bobbie Sproul, Brazil, daughters Lori (Sproul) Nobert, Santa Rosa, Calif., and Lee Ann (Sproul) Webb, Brazil, grandchildren and great-grandchildren Micahel Sproul, son Jarrett and daughter Ella, Brazil, Matt and Jenn Sproul and daughter Ava, Baltimore, Md., Laura Sproul and son Brodee Jones, Brazil, Cassandra (Webb) and Don Addleman and son Jude, Omaha, Neb., brother-in-law Robert Sproul, Waukegan, Ill., and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Myrna desired cremation and a Celebration Service, which is being planned for July 4, 2010.
In lieu of flowers, her wish would be donations to a charity of choice. Services were entrusted to French Funeral Home.
