He was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Clay County, the son of George Washington Myers and Yuma Hicks Myers.
He graduated from Brazil High School, class of 1950.
He enjoyed sports in high school and lettered in football.
Following high school, he went to work for American Vitrified.
On March 3, 1951, he married Loretta Boyce.
In 1952, he joined the U.S. Army and served two years in Korea. Upon coming home, he worked again for the clay factory before landing a job at the coal mine.
He worked in many capacities at the mine, last working as a driller.
He retired from Amax in 1990, following health problems with his heart.
He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
In years past, he enjoyed trapping and hunting rabbits and squirrels.
The first mushrooms in the spring were a treat he enjoyed.
He played cards with several groups and family -- especially Euchre.
Whether you called him, "Uncle Herbie," "Tomer," or "Young Man," or simply "Grandpa," Kyle was a man who loved his family and friends beyond measure. He always lived life to its fullest and was a joy to be around.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Loretta Boyce Myers Jan. 24, 2007, and sister Betty Schlatter.
Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law Jeff and Cheryl Myers, Brazil, and Doug and Emily Myers, Center Point, grandchildren Christy Myers, Brent Myers and wife Stephanie, Steve Myers and wife Kayla, Todd (T.J.) Norris, Lisa Hutcheson and husband Tyler, Justin Myers, and Michael Myers and wife Melanie, great-grandchildren Alayna, Gunner, Jacob and Cheyenne. Kyle also had a special friend Madonna McKinney. They had enjoyed one another's company and had many good times together.
Services will take place Saturday, at 11 a.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel, with Pastor Randy Dragan and Rev. Myron James officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, from 4-8 p.m., and again Saturday prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Wesley Chapel Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brent Myers, Steve Myers, Todd Norris, Justin Myers, Tyler Hutcheson, Michael Myers (currently serving in Iraq), Kyle Loden and Tyler Sinders.
