He was born June 15, 1929, in Peru, Ind., the son of Charles and Ethel Lighty McComas.
Bill began his 50-year career as an insurance broker with the National Life and Accident Insurance Company in Peru, later working for American General and Mutual of Omaha.
He was recognized in his career with numerous service awards.
He was a loyal Chicago Bears fan.
Bill was a member of the Elks Lodge, Zorah Shrine, a 32nd degree mason and a member of Social Lodge No. 86.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Clara Wilson McComas, whom he married April 23, 1950, son Jeffrey and his wife Karen, Kokomo, daughter Laura McComas and her companion John Cooper, Terre Haute, his grandchildren Heather and husband Coty Howard, and Austin Eckstein, Terre Haute, Zachary McComas and wife Amy, Walton, Ind., Jeremy McComas and wife Angela, Galveston, Ind., and Matthew McComas, Noblesville, great-grandsons Nathan and Nolan McComas, sisters Penny and husband Bob Mills, Reno, Nev., and Pamela Dolce, Peru, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and special daughter Tracey Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Steve Dolce.

Calling hours are Thursday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, from 4-8 p.m., with Masonic memorial services at 7 p.m., by Social Lodge No. 86, to be followed by comments by Rev. Marvin Miller.
Continued visitation will be on Friday, from 4-7 p.m., at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. 3rd St., Peru, Ind., with funeral services on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 1 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the services.
Entombment will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park in Logansport, Ind.
