Chaplain added to list of visitors at Civil War Days

Friday, May 21, 2010

Billie Creek Village Civil War Days recently announced that Chaplain Alan Farley would be at its upcoming event.

The Reverend will be making a return appearance to Civil War Days.

He conducts a Christian outreach ministry to the Civil War reenacting/living history community called Reenactor's Missions for Jesus Christ (R.M.J.C.).

Chaplain Farley and his family are members and missionaries of the Timberlake Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Va.

R.M.J.C. originated at the Bentonville Battlefield near Bentonville, N.C., in November 1984.

According to Chaplain Farley, there are an estimated 60,000 Civil War reenactors worldwide, whose participation averages three-four events per year.

Of those estimated, approximately 50,000 live in the continental United States.

Chaplain Farley has been ministering in the Civil War Reenacting community for 25 years.

He also began as a Civil War reenactor but in 1983, he added the role of chaplain to his repertoire, while still maintaining the role of First Sergeant within his unit.
