Mary Houk South will be celebrating her 100th birthday with an open house on June 5, from 2-6 p.m., at her home, 56 N. Shalepit Rd., Veedersburg.
Mary is the widow of Cecil South. She was born on June 9, 1010, in Brazil. She lived two miles south of Brazil in the former red Log Cabin Restaurant, on the northwest corner of SR59 and Staunton Road.

Mary was very active in the Brazil branch of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church, and is still active in the Williamsport branch.
She worked for several business positions for 50 years, beginning at the age of 15, before retiring at the age of 65.
She has three sons, Larry and Rachel Pensinger, David and Colleen South and Cecil Duane and Nancy South. She also has four grandchildren and one late grandson; five step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
