TERRE HAUTE -- In an effort to support volunteerism throughout the Wabash Valley and to build community, the United Way of the Wabash Valley will conduct its annual "Day of Action," Friday, June 18.
"We are asking for volunteers to donate a half day of service to non-profit organizations in our community," United Way Executive Director Troy Fears said. "We have 24 non-profits in five counties in need of help by volunteers with a total of 230 volunteer openings for 27 projects."
Many of the projects are landscaping and painting for the 27 United Way partner agencies such as Catholic Charities of Terre Haute, but some others include building an exhibit at the Children's Museum and assembling a cat condo at the Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society.
Volunteers are currently signing up and those interested in volunteering are urged to contact Tonya Adamson at the United Way office at 812-235-6287, by June 4, or by e-mail at email@example.com.
