A Brazil man is currently incarcerated at the Clay County Justice Center on numerous drug-related charges.

On Sunday, members of the Clay County Sheriff's Department served a search warrant at 10425 North County Road 300 West, where they discovered a methamphetamine lab, along with an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and marijuana plants.

According to a press release from CCSD, the Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was notified, and assisted in the dismantling of the meth lab.

Officials arrested Jeremy Montgomery, 30, without incident and transported him to the Clay County Justice Center without incident, where he is being held on a $25,000 cash bond.

Although details are limited at this time due to the case remaining under investigation, Montgomery has been preliminarily charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Precursors, Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia, Possession of Marijuana, Cultivating Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.

Montgomery is scheduled to appear in Clay Superior Court per the court calendar.

Officials are requesting those with information regarding this or any other criminal activity to contact the Clay County Sheriff's Department at 446-2535.

otis66 ARE YOU KIDDING ME.... as much as I agree with you about raising our children where it is safe DRUGS are not the only problem I see...... What about all the SEX OFFENDERS and other around us!

Am I missing something here? This string of blogs does not seem to apply directly or completely to the story above....except maybe for Mr. Thall's.

-- Posted by madman36 on Wed, May 26, 2010, at 8:30 AM

Sex offenders, especially child predators, who can't be " cured " are the main ones who should be under extreme scrutiny. We have registry list for this, but does it help ? There are many living in Brazil on the registry list, but officials drop the ball when it comes to protecting our kids, they don't even enforce the laws about where they live or contact with kids, I know because got one on this street.

Great Job CCSD--as for the sex offender comment, I know that CCSD has a person who registers and tracks sex offenders and he does a great job. If the courts won't support the officer's work then it won't matter how well they keep track of sex offenders or any others for that matter. If you know of a registered sex offender who is doing something they shouldn't (legally) be doing then I suggest you call and make a report. I've spoken with a lot of police officers and not one of them have a warm spot in their hearts for sex offenders so if they can legally do anything I'm sure they will.

They very well COULD track IPs on here, however, there's this little thing called the FIRST Amendment that pretty much protects the nay-sayers.

And .. just because someone is arrested for METH doesn't mean the police stop looking for (or at) the predators in town. This guy just happened to make headlines THIS week. Great job, CCSD!

There's way too much criminal activity everywhere .. not just here.

Ahhhh.....another one of Mr. Thall's posts have been removed. Maybe that explains why some of these strings seem to not be on topic. Still trying to figure out why the tracking of sex offender and child predators (an important topic in and of it self) are being discussed here.

-- Posted by madman36 on Wed, May 26, 2010, at 12:57 PM

Oh madman36, my post was very much on topic. Had nothing to do with sex offenders or child predators.

BTW, are you sure I'm Mr. Thall and not Ms. Thall? Hmmmm?

The Times doesn't like it when you have something negative to say about one of their own. They like to pick and choose what posts are displayed. Someone else pointed that out a while back.

I have always assumed you , Lee Thall are female and connected in someway to CCSD, probably deleted you because your remarks about someone who isn't even participating in the comments are totally uncalled for, I get that you think you're so smart and clever, but for those of us reading your remarks, you look extremely petty, glad to see them gone.

I must apologize if I incorrectly assumed your gender Lee Thall....so much for trying to be respectful.

As for judging posts listed on this site, the adage that one man's (woman's) junk is another man's (woman's) treasure seems to apply. I, for one, find most of the interactions here quite entertaining....not always educational or informative, but definitely entertaining.

Hey Otis66 have you had to call the sheriff lately? I have and do to the fact that the "Morons in this town are runnin Nut's" They are short on deputies.I just hope that no one gets seriously hurt with all of the dips going round lately. BTW-I welcome the CCSD checking me out. I am very open to it. CAN YOU SAY THE SAY GRANDPA??

-- Posted by Cardonia Redneck on Wed, May 26, 2010, at 2:57 PM

Ombudsman you just can't win. You're incorrect on all counts. BTW, I just checked the Brazil Times website & didn't see your name listed as an employee, let alone in management. So is there some reason that you think that you set the rules?

And madman, thank you.

-- Posted by I. M. Lee Thall, Esq. on Wed, May 26, 2010, at 3:09 PM

I don't set any rules, never implied it ,or stated it, just that you seem to attack a person for showing interest in what happens , we need lots more people to show interest like that maybe then we wouldn't have as many problems as we do, there could be solutions that could come out of being able to give an opinion without being dogged the way you do, I must not be the only one who feels this way , I had NOTHING to do with your post getting deleted, I happen to think you are entitled to an opinion, just wish you were'nt so vicious about it .

-- Posted by Ombudsman on Wed, May 26, 2010, at 4:21 PM

Wow.... this is really getting lethal!!! Hope we don't need an attorney before we post Lee Thall!!

-- Posted by CHISMOSO on Wed, May 26, 2010, at 6:39 PM

Most of the comments above are not even related to the story. I somethimes think that this is just a sounding board for everyone to one up the other and not stay on the topic at hand. I am glad to see that CCDS is doing a good job. I hope that they continue to do a good job. It is a hard thing that they are trying to control and seems that no one else wants to tackle the issue but them. Good job and keep it up.

I also went all through school with Jeremy, he was a shy and quiet kid but also nice when spoken too. It is so sad that Jeremy had to turn out this way, I never would have guessed it. May the Lord Bless You!

Otis66 is probably more correct than you might think -- big brother is always watching and listening...especially since POTUS was mentioned.

-- Posted by madman36 on Fri, May 28, 2010, at 8:55 AM

Dang yall,

You could of told me I put the word SAY 2X's?

I meant "CAN YOU SAY THE SAME GRANDPA"?

And Mr.Madman36 could you Please give me the redneck version on what POTUS is? I don't know,And welcome a chance to learn anything when possible. Thank you if you do..

I did not go to school with Jeremy but knew him through some other folks. The Jeremy that I knew was quiet but parinoid. Always looking over his shoulder and worried some one was after him. That is what this drug does to people. It is sad that it consurmes peoples lives like it does. People that generaly try this are missisng God in their life and looking for what they are missing but are looking in the wrong place. They are miss led and possibly that is what happened to Jeremy. I pray to God that he will find God and realize what he has been missing.
