He was born Jan. 16, 1951, in Clay County, the son of Kenneth and Betty Hays Lucas. He graduated from Van Buren High School, Class of 1969. As a young man, he attended the Nazarene Church. He served in the Indiana Air National Guard for six years. He worked at Bridgeport Brass until the late 1970s. For the past 25 years, he has lived in Evansville with Jimmy and Patsy Walker. He enjoyed going to the mall and visiting with his friends there. He also enjoyed anything and everything having to do with sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew Ryan Lucas.
Survivors include his two brothers Larry Lucas and wife Veronica, Knightsville, Mike Lucas and wife Carol, Terre Haute, one sister Rebecca Murphy and husband Kelly, Knightsville, nieces and nephews Stephanie and John Browning, Lauren and Matt Latta, Craig and Bridget Cook, Shaun and Jennifer Cook, Cari Cook and fiancÚ Brent Hull, Chip and Lori Cook, Jerod Lucas, Jeremy Lucas, and Janelle Lucas, great-nieces and nephews Joshua Girton, Jordan Girton, Sydney and Abbi Browning, Briana Cook, Alli Cook, Chole Cook, Calen Cook, Katie Girton, Ben Girton and Drew Cook, and great-great-niece MaKenzie Girton.
Services will be held Saturday, at 1 p.m., at French Funeral Home with Matt Latta officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
