Festival packed again this year

It was a beautiful day for the annual Christmas In The Park Strawberry Festival Friday.

"We had a great turnout," Christmas In The Park representative Charlie Brown said. "Everything tasted fantastic, and if you weren't there then you missed a good time."

According to Christmas In The Park representatives, there were 35 gallon buckets of ice cream, 28 buckets of strawberries and approximately 1,200 homemade shortbreads.

"We really want to thank the community," Christmas In The Park Board President Linda Ray said. "They always support us in everything we do."

District 44 Indiana State Rep. Nancy Michael made a stop in town to enjoy some of the food and to listen to Louie Popejoy and his students perform a rendition of different songs.

"This is really a great event for the community," Michael said. "It is so great to see how well the community supports all the different organizations."

Proceeds from the Strawberry Festival will go to complete landscaping at the Santa House, along with helping to fund other Christmas In The Park activities and projects.

Ray told The Brazil Times Christmas In The Park is busy planning other events for the summer and early fall, such as Blingo, Balloon Glow and Summer Heat, which will be the partnering of Christmas In The Park and the Clay County Humane Society. Watch The Brazil Times for updates.

"I'm so excited for all the stuff that is going on and that we are planning," Ray said.

"It is nice that two organizations like Christmas In The Park and the shelter can come together and work together for the betterment of the community," Christmas In The Park representative and shelter director Mike Sorrels said. "Both are dependent on volunteers to make everything run smoothly."
