Advance ride armbands available at a discount

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Advance ride armband tickets for the 75th Brazil Rotary Club 4th of July Celebration are currently available at banks in Brazil and Clay City.

The tickets will be available until Wednesday, June 23.

The weeklong event has been scheduled for June 26-July 4 and will feature a carnival and midway, along with food and entertainment nightly at Forest Park.

Discount priced wristband tickets will be on sale until noon, June 23, or until supplies last.

Cost is $15 in advance. The tickets are purchased in advance to be exchanged for a bracelet good to ride rides on the day redeemed at the carnival.

The Rotary Club of Brazil and Burton Bros. Amusements will honor bracelet tickets for midway rides Saturday, June 26, through Sunday, July 4. Midway will be open weekdays at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.

There is a $3 savings per wristband only if the tickets are purchased in advance of the event. Ride bracelets will cost $18 if purchased at the main ticket booth during the celebration, with individual ride tickets costing $1 each.

Armbands may only be purchased and used during the open hours of the midway after June 23. Small children must be accompanied by a ticketed or an adult with a wristband in order to ride safely.

Height signs must be observed and no rides allowed by those with broken bones, injuries or pregnancy due to insurance.

Advance sale $10,000 grand prize raffle tickets are also now on sale by asking a Brazil Rotarian. Rotary meetings now take place at the Elks Lodge in Brazil, from noon-1 p.m., Wednesdays.

Donation is $5 for one chance, or $10 for three chances. Those interested in purchasing a ticket must be 18 or older and not be a Rotarian, family member or dependant.

There will also be door prizes awarded during the days leading up to the $10,000 grand prize drawing, which will take place at 11 a.m., July 4, following the 10 p.m., fireworks.

In case of rain, the drawing will take place July 5, after the fireworks. Prize winners do not have to be present to win.

The event is the Rotary Club's only fundraiser to help raise money for scholarships and community improvement projects. More information and a schedule of daily events and free entertainment may be accessed at www.brazilrotary.org.

Parking and admission to the event is free.

The celebration will officially kick off Saturday, June 26, with a 5K Firecracker walk/run, sponsored by the YMCA of Clay County. The walk/run will begin at 7:30 a.m. Those interested in participating should contact the YMCA.

The culmination of the weeklong festivities will take place at 10 p.m., July 4, with a fireworks display by Aerial Arts Fireworks along with musical accompaniment by the Crock, 92.7-FM.

June 19-20 will feature the return of the Rotary sponsored SIRA Go-Kart races at Forest Park, as the pre-celebration weekend events.
