Harmony Happenings

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Epworth United Methodist Church is hosting the Men's Breakfast Saturday, June 19, starting at 8 a.m. All men are invited to join the fellowship.

Pastor Bob Kumpf is at the Indiana United Methodist Conference at Ball State University. He will be back at the church Monday, June 14. Ted Jackson will deliver the message this Sunday at Harmony and Lena.

No one has signed up for the hostess and lesson responsibilities for the June United Methodist Women's Meeting. Everyone should bring a snack to share and President Sheila Termeer will read from the prayer calendar. The yard sale that was originally planned for June has been canceled. There were just too many things going on during the month. The group hopes to reschedule it. Perhaps the fall would be a better time.

HUMW will meet at the regular time of 7 p.m., on June 28. The group will talk about the Red Bird Mission. The ladies were planning a trip there in the fall, but the mission is so low on funds that they have had to close temporarily. Maybe we can all help to keep them going and continue doing the good work for the people.

Vacation Bible School for Harmony and Lena will be in the evenings from June 24-26, at Harmony UMC. Jane Osborn is in charge and is asking for volunteers. Folks are needed for refreshments, lessons, games, crafts and just all around helping with the kids. Give Jane a call if you can help. All children are invited to attend. Mark your calendars.

This is the last Harmony Happenings for me for a while. It has been such a busy time that I am taking the summer off. See you in September unless someone else has an overwhelming desire to write the news.

I noticed a few yard sales in Brazil on the giant yard sale weekend. Seelyville had several of them, two must have been multi-family. Hope everyone had successful sales.

It is a good idea to celebrate the historic National Road but may take a few years to get as big as the one that runs through Kentucky and southward.

The wife and daughter of our new student pastor-to-be were at Harmony United Methodist this past Sunday. Welcome again to Vicky and Jennifer Jeffers.

Happy birthdays to Jan Bowen and Rose Marie Pell (June 10), two of my aunts, Christine Clark and Jean Roach and Caleb Escott (June 12), Carole Weaver and Jay Bridgewater (June 17), Andra Wolfe (June 18), Kate Trout and Joetta Brown (June 19), Bill Pell (June 20), Maxine Beaman (June 21), Craig Dierdorf and Stoney Stitzle (June 22), granddaughter Auriel Sidney Long and Dan Pell (June 23). Happy June anniversaries to Rev. Bob and Carolyn Kummpf (June 16), Bruce and Mary Lou Thompson (June 18), Brad and Barbara Pell (June 19) and Jim and Shirley Pell (June 20).
