Registration for beginning genealogy class now open

Thursday, June 10, 2010

TERRE HAUTE -- Registration for the Beginning Genealogy August 2010 course is now open.

Due to the popularity of the class and limited seating, early registration is recommended.

The Beginning Genealogy August 2010 course is sponsored by the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society and is being hosted by the Vigo County Public Library, located at 7th and Poplar Streets in Terre Haute.

There will be four two-hour sessions during the month of August in the library computer classroom. There's a choice of dates for classes, either every Tuesday, 6-9 p.m., or Saturdays (starting Aug. 7), from 2-4 p.m. The classes are free with an optional $5 fee for materials payable at the first class.

This course is open to the public with limited seating.

Learn basic skills of genealogy essential to a lifetime, convenient hobby of family heritage research.

Apply to Loran Braught at loranbraught@verizon.net, or call 812-535-3618 and clearly state your name, phone, home address and e-mail address (home computer recommended, but not required).

The deadline to register is Saturday, July 24.

Instruction of classes will be under the supervision of Braught, a life member of the Indiana Genealogical Society, and David Bonnett, IGS Vigo County Genealogist.

Topics are sequential; attend all four classes with practice and homework prior to each weekly class.
